Children’s Holiday Party a Success
On Sunday, December 15, the children and grandchildren of the Bay State Antique Auto Club gathered at the Allin Congregational Church hall in Dedham to celebrate the holiday season with their parents and grandparents. The well-attended event included live entertainment, an appearance by a very special guest, and a reception featuring traditional home-baked holiday goodies.
Guitar player and children’s entertainer Ed Morgan played holiday music and got the children and grownups to dance and sing. Along with traditional favorites such as Frosty The Snowman and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, he played new favorites like "Please Snow Down On Me" and "The Reindeer Pokey." We are happy to report that neither man nor beast was injured doing the Reindeer Pokey!
As the music and dancing wound down there was a commotion in the back of the room. With a jolly laugh, an expansive wave, and a sparkling glint in his eye, Santa Claus himself made a grand entrance, mesmerizing both the young and the young at heart. Icy roads forced Santa to arrive in a conveyance more modern than that to which he is accustomed, but the conditions did not prevent him from delivering early Christmas presents to 28 smiling children.
Board games, action figures, and craft sets in hand, the Jr. club members and their grownups retreated to the festively decorated Allin Church auditorium where they feasted on an impressive holiday baked goods buffet. The room, festooned with multi-colored balloons and potted poinsettias, featured a 16-foot dessert table anchored by Jeff and Rachel Koopman's amazing cupcake display. The cupcakes and surrounding treats were lovingly baked by club members for our youngsters.
A great time was had by all because of the work done by the Milici and Paré families and their band of holiday elves. Arranging the venue, entertainment, gift list for Santa, decorations, baked goods, and a hundred other details was a lot of work so be sure to give them a hearty thank you the next time you see them. Through their hard work, that of their helpers, and the hospitality of Reverend Kerr and the members of the Allin Congregational Church, the 2013 Children’s Christmas party was a great success!
